Who Is ZAZ?

ZAZ is the stage name of French pop singer, songwriter and musician Isabelle Geffroy, born in 1980 in Tourcoing, France. Her unique hybrid of jazz-influenced pop and soulful vocal delivery has earned her both critical acclaim and a devoted following since her debut album was released in 2010.

Early Life

Geffroy's passion for music began in childhood when she learned to play guitar. She later studied musicology at university, which led to a career as a session musician. At the same time, she began writing her own songs and performing them in small clubs.

Debut Album

In 2010, Geffroy released her debut album, Zaz, which was a major success in France. The album was a mix of jazz-influenced pop, chanson and gypsy swing, with lyrics sung in both English and French. The single 'Je Veux' became one of the biggest hits of the year, reaching number one on the French singles chart.

She released two further albums, Recto Verso (2013) and Paris (2015), which further cemented her status as an acclaimed singer-songwriter. In 2018 she collaborated with fellow French artists Nolwenn Leroy and Garou on the single 'Sous le Ciel de Paris'.
