Kerri Chandler - Mommy Whats a Record I was in Manchester buying some records early one day to play at a club named Sankey’s, one of my favourites. I walked back to the hotel I was staying in from the record store with a couple of bags of records, that I couldn’t wait to play later on. I stepped into the elevator, and a mom and her son step into the elevator with me. As I’m looking at a few records I was curious about. The lady asked me are those records? I replied happily "Yes, I’m a DJ and I’m playing tonight." She said "They look new. Do they still make those?" And her child looked up at her very puzzled and simply asked “Mommy, Mommy What’s a Record?” I handed the child the record I was looking at and as quickly as I could I tried to explain it before my floor arrived. And I thought to myself leaving the elevator "Damn there it is... We're in trouble when children don’t know what records are ... !" When I returned home, I decided to make a song about it. With Love, Respect and Admiration! Kerri
