The species is classified as ‘Critically endangered’ with only 250 to 999 individuals left in the wild and, as a ground-nester, it has been vulnerable to the accidental introduction of predators, especially cats and rats. The Raso Lark is a greyish streaky lark with a large heavy bill and a short crest. It is a species that can only be found along the dry riverbeds and flat arid plains of the tiny uninhabited islet of Raso, Cabo Verde.
