Who Is Giggs?

Giggs is the stage name of Nathaniel Thompson, a 37-year-old British hip hop artist from London, England. He has established himself as one of the most successful UK rappers of all time with a string of chart-topping albums and singles. He has released five studio albums and also featured on numerous songs by other artists.

Early Career

Giggs started rapping in 2003 and released his debut mixtape, ‘Walk in da Park’, in 2008. The tape was well-received and sparked a bidding war between labels. Giggs subsequently signed to XL Recordings a year later and released his second mixtape ‘Let Em Ave It’ in 2010. The mixtape was an underground hit and received great critical acclaim.

Breakthrough Success

In 2011 Giggs released his third mixtape ‘Take Your Hat Off’ which included guest appearances from artists such as Lethal Bizzle, Devlin and Wretch 32. The mixtape was a commercial success and propelled Giggs into the mainstream. His fourth mixtape ‘When Will it Stop’ was released in 2012 and reached number 5 on the UK Albums Chart.

Recent Releases

In 2014 Giggs released his fifth studio album ‘Landlord’ which reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart. The album included collaborations with artists such as Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Ghetts. In 2016 Giggs released his sixth mixtape ‘Wamp 2 Dem’ which reached number 8 on the UK Albums Chart. He has also featured on songs by artists such as Drake, Skepta and Stormzy.

Awards & Honors

Giggs has been nominated for several awards throughout his career including two MOBO Awards, three Urban Music Awards and an MTV Europe Music Award. He has also won two BET Awards for Best International Act: UK in 2017 and 2018.
