Girls Generation is an 8-piece, South Korean pop group whose members consist of Taeyon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Sunny, Seohyun, Yoona, and Yuri. The fashion-conscious girls released their debut EP "Gee" in 2007, which stamped their reputation as a trendy girl group.

Early Days Talented entertainers, the girls trained in various arts, from music, dance, and acting, before joining the group. After being talent scouted, they individually auditioned for South Korea's most extensive entertainment company "SM Entertainment" and were selected for their skills. Musical Journey/Career Working hard on their style as a musical collective, in 2007, they debuted with the single "Into the new world," which they followed with their self-titled album. With songs such as "Kissing you and Baby Baby," the album obtained the status as the second most successful album of 2007. In 2009, "Gee" was Girls Generation's debut EP; the single reached the number 1 spot on "Music Bank, " a popular South Korean music program that cemented the same position for nine weeks. After dropping their second EP, "Tell me your wish," it gained 50,000 sales in its first week. With a high recognition in the country, the girls embarked on a national tour, "Into the new world", in 2009. "Oh" was their second studio album, which fulled their popularity further; they went on to sign with the Japanese label "Nayutawave Records" and put out the DVD, "New beginnings of Girls Generation", which hosted the girl's music videos. Making its mark, it debuted at number four on Japan's Oricon DVD charts. In 2010 & 2011, the group won the artist of the year award at the 'Seoul Music Awards." Repackaging their "Girls Generation" album, it gained massive success; it achieved double platinum and took the title of "Album of the year" at Japan's 2012 MTV video music awards; they then toured the country. "Boys" was the girl's third studio album, which was also released in the United States; traveling to the U.S, they made various appearances on shows such as the David Letterman show. With massive South Korea & Japan achievements, they continued to triumph with multiple singles and albums. The band's last album was "Holiday Night, " which celebrated the group's tenth anniversary and found its place on the Billboard World Album charts. From that day forward, the girls have worked on various individual projects.
