Jamie Cullum is an English jazz-pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has sold over 13 million albums and won several awards. He has released nine studio albums, two greatest hits albums, and one live album and has had three top-20 hits in the UK Singles Chart.
Early Life
Jamie Cullum was born in Rochford, Essex, England on August 20, 1979. His mother was the headmistress of a primary school, and his father was a real estate agent. He began playing the piano at the age of six and was taught by a series of teachers including jazz pianist Madeline Bell. He attended Cambridge University, where he studied English Literature.
Career
Cullum released his debut album Pointless Nostalgic in 1999. The album received critical acclaim and spawned several hit singles including 'High & Dry' and 'Everlasting Love'. In 2003, he released his second album Twentysomething which achieved international success and made him a household name. The album was certified Platinum and went on to win the Ivor Novello Award for Best Album. He followed this up with the release of Catching Tales in 2005, The Pursuit in 2009, Momentum in 2013 and Interlude in 2014. In addition to his own material, he has also collaborated with a range of other artists including Daniel Merriweather, Joss Stone and Sting.
