Who is Jannabi (잔나비)?
Jannabi (잔나비) is a South Korean indie music duo formed by Park Jung-hoon and Kim Jae-hyeong in 2014. Park Jung-hoon and Kim Jae-hyeong are both 36 and 35 years old respectively. Their debut single “Falling in the Deep End” quickly became a hit, propelling them to fame. The two have since released several singles and EPs and have collaborated with other artists such as Jung Seung-hwan and Lim Kim.
In 2016, Jannabi (잔나비) released their first EP, “Sailing” to critical acclaim. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Gaon Album Chart, becoming the first indie album to do so. It was also nominated for Best Pop/Rock Album at the 2018 Korean Music Awards. In 2019, Jannabi (잔나비) released their second EP, “The Night Watchman”, which was met with similar success. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Gaon Album Chart and sold over 30,000 copies in its first week of release.
Jannabi (잔나비)'s musical style can be described as a mix of indie rock and alternative rock. Their sound has often been compared to that of Coldplay and U2, as they incorporate elements of dream pop and shoegaze into their music. They often write lyrics that are reflective of everyday life, dealing with themes such as love, heartbreak, and friendship.
