Born on September 23rd, 1972, Dupri began his career as a dancer at age seven and by the time he was twelve he was already producing tracks for local artists. In 1992, he produced ""Just kickin' it"", a track for the group Xscape that helped them land a record deal with LaFace Records. Two years later he founded his own record label So So Def Recordings which catapulted him to success.

Dupri has received several awards throughout the course of his career including two Grammy Awards for his work on Mariah Carey's album ""The Emancipation of Mimi"" in 2005 and for Usher's ""Confessions"" in 2004.
