Lenier, whose real name is Álvaro Lenier Mesa, is a talented composer and singer from Güines, Mayabeque, Cuba. His music has been making a significant impact in the Latin music scene in the southern United States, and he has also been receiving ample promotion on Cuban radio and through audiovisual mediums.
Lenier credits recording studios and listening to recordings from other artists as his musical education. Through observation and inquiry, he acquired recording skills and eventually started creating his own music. Lenier is unafraid to express his deepest emotions through his music, particularly when it comes to matters of the heart.
At the age of 15, Lenier emigrated to the United States with his father and settled in Miami, where he began exploring the urban music genre due to the limited audience for peasant music. To make ends meet, he worked as a barber and collaborated with numerous radio stations in Colombia, where he recorded his debut album. After years of hard work and dedication, Lenier began his career as a backing vocalist for Jacob Forever.
As a result of his success with Jacob Forever, Lenier started writing some of his own hits, including "La Protagonista," which became a success when Jacob collaborated with salsa composer Víctor Manuelle. This led to further collaborations such as "Que Nochecita," and eventually Lenier launched his solo career. Another significant figure in Lenier's career is music producer Emilio Estefan, who has expressed his admiration for the güinero, naming him one of his favorite artists.
Lenier's musical career has also been aided by the support of international superstar Pitbull. In 2020, Lenier achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Cuban artist and composer to sign with Pitbull's label, Mr. 305 Records.
Together, Lenier and Pitbull debuted their collaboration "Me Quedare Contigo Remix" at the Latin American Music Awards (Latin AMAS), featuring El Micha and Neyo, in front of a global audience. The single topped the charts, with numerous radio stations giving it a number one spot. It was also nominated for the Collaborations category at the Tu Música Urbano Awards in Puerto Rico.
Lenier recently released a touching single and music video called "Como Te Pago," dedicated to all mothers. The song tells the story of a son searching for a way to express his gratitude to his mother for everything she has done for him. It also highlights the unfortunate reality of some people taking their mothers for granted, despite having them by their side.
In addition to "Como Te Pago," Lenier has an impressive repertoire of hits, including "Mi Corazón," "Por tu Amor," "Yo tengo una Guitarra que no suena," "Una Mujer como Tu," "Que Nochecita," "La Buena y El Malo," "Ya es muy tarde," "La Nochecita," "Me Quedaré Contigo," "Te Toque sin Querer," "Si Tu No Llevas," and many more.
