Leoni Torres is a Cuban singer, songwriter and producer born on August 10th, 1978 in Santiago de Cuba. He began performing music as a child and first appeared on television as part of a group of young musicians at age 14. Leoni's career took off when he released his first solo album, “Vida”, in 2001. Since then, he has been featured on some of the biggest stages around the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Latin Grammy Awards.
Early Life
Leoni Torres was born in Santiago de Cuba to Maritza and Ernesto Torres. From an early age, he was exposed to different musical styles including Rock, Salsa and Merengue. At the age of 12, he started playing guitar and wrote his first songs. He joined a group of young musicians called “Los Nuevos Talentos de Santiago de Cuba” as a vocalist at 14 years old and made several appearances on Cuban TV.
Career
In 2001, Leoni released his first solo album, “Vida” which included some of his own compositions as well as covers of popular classic Cuban songs. The album was an instant success and propelled him to fame in Cuba and other countries in Latin America. In 2002, he was signed by Sony Music International and released his second album “Cuba” which featured popular hits such as “Yo No Se Manana” and “Besame Mucho”. His third album “Enamorado” was released in 2005 featuring hits like “Me Estoy Enamorando”. His fourth album “La Vida Es Bella” was released in 2008 and featured collaborations with other Cuban artists such as Victor Manuelle and Gente de Zona.
