Michael Stafford was born in Hackney, London on July 23, 1988. He grew up in East London with his father, a reggae producer and musician, and his mother, a school teacher. As a young child he began to write poetry and music as a form of self-expression. He was also heavily influenced by the music of his father’s reggae records.
Career
At age 18, Maverick Sabre began writing and recording music in his friend’s home studio. He eventually signed a deal with Virgin Records in 2009 and released his debut single “Let Me Go” the following year. The track was a success and reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2011 he released his debut album Lonely Are The Brave which reached number 7 on the UK Albums Chart. The album featured the singles “I Need” (featuring Chipmunk) and “Come Fly Away” (featuring Wretch 32).
