Biography

Melanie C is an English singer-songwriter and actress, best known as one of the founding five members of the iconic pop band Spice Girls. Born Melanie Jayne Chisholm in 1974, she was raised in Widnes, Cheshire and began studying at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in London at the age of 12. During her time there, she joined the all-girl band Touch before being asked to join Spice Girls in 1994.

Career

Chisholm was the second member of the group to release a solo album, Northern Star (1999). In 2000, she also released a duet with Lisa Left Eye Lopes from TLC on the song Never Be The Same Again which peaked at number 1 on multiple charts around the world. She also collaborated with other artists such as Emma Bunton and Sugababes throughout her career. Her second album, Reason (2003), was her highest charting solo album to date.

Music

Her music style is often described as pop, dance and rock. She has released nine studio albums to date, including two Christmas albums. Her latest single, Who I Am featuring Sink The Pink was released in 2020. She is also a judge on The Voice Kids UK and performs alongside her bandmates as part of Spice Girls’ reunion tours.
