Who Is M.G.L.?

M.G.L., also known as Matt G. Lewis, is a soulful alternative singer-songwriter from London, UK. Born in 1982, M.G.L. was exposed to music at an early age through his parents, who were both musicians and avid music fans themselves. Growing up in the multi-cultural city of London, M.G.L. was inspired by a variety of musical influences from around the world, including jazz, blues, hip hop, and reggae.

M.G.L.'s Music Journey

As a teenager, M.G.L. began writing and performing his own music, combining elements of his diverse influences into his own unique sound that he calls 'soulful alternative'. After honing his craft for several years, M.G.L.'s debut single, 'All I Need', was released in 2001 and quickly gained recognition in the UK music scene for its soulful grooves and lyrical depth. Since then, M.G.L has released several EPs and singles and performed in some of London's most popular venues.

In addition to his solo work, M.G.L has collaborated with a number of other artists over the years, including Amy Winehouse and The Streets' Mike Skinner. He has also released four studio albums: 'The Soulful Side of Things' (2005), 'My Way' (2008), 'Everyday Magic' (2011) and 'The Light Within' (2017).

In 2017, MGL released his fourth studio album 'The Light Within'. The album is an exploration of inner strength and resilience in the face of adversity and showcases MGL's broad range of musical influences from funk to gospel to jazz.
