Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer. Born in Arizona in 1983, she is best known for her unique blend of pop, rock and country music. Her debut album The Spirit Room was released in 2001 and was certified double platinum. She has gone on to release five more studio albums, earning two Grammy Award nominations for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for her song “The Game of Love” featuring Santana.
Early Life
Branch was born in Sedona, Arizona on July 2, 1983. She grew up surrounded by music as her father was a blues guitarist and her mother often sang to her. At the age of 15 she signed a publishing deal with Maverick Records and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.
Career
In 2001 she released her debut album The Spirit Room which earned her two Grammy Award nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rock Vocal Performance. The album went on to sell more than 5 million copies worldwide. In 2003 she released the album Hotel Paper which included the hit singles “Are You Happy Now?” and “Breathe”. Her third album was released in 2005 and featured collaborations with Teddy Landau and Jessica Harp. In 2006 she released her fourth album titled Everything Comes and Goes which spawned the single “Goodbye To You”. Her fifth album Hopeless Romantic was released in 2017 and featured the single “Best You Ever”.
