Early Life
Born in Mexico City, Montesanto was exposed to music from an early age. His mother was a classical pianist and his father a jazz drummer. He started playing piano at the age of five and by the time he was twelve, he was already playing guitar, bass and drums. He studied music theory and harmony at the University of Music in Mexico City and went on to form his own band in 2003.
Career
In 2003, Montesanto formed the group “Los Amigos del Amor” (Friends of Love), which became one of the most successful Mexican alternative rock bands of its time. The group released four studio albums between 2003 and 2012 and won several awards including two Latin Grammy Awards. In 2012, he embarked on a solo career and released two solo albums: “La Paz de los Corazones” (The Peace of Hearts) in 2014 and “Caminando” (Walking) in 2018. Both albums were met with critical acclaim and earned him several awards including the Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2018.
