Nigo (real name: Tomoaki Nagao) is a Japanese music artist and fashion mogul. He began his career as a hip-hop DJ in the late 1980s, going on to become an influential figure in the hip-hop community. Early Life

Nigo was born in Tokyo on December 22, 1972. As a child, he was exposed to a variety of music genres and styles, developing a deep love for hip-hop. In 1989, he began his career as a hip-hop DJ at the Tokyo nightclub, Harajuku.

Career

In 1993, Nigo founded A Bathing Ape (BAPE), which quickly became one of the most iconic streetwear brands in the world. The brand was popularized by its collaboration with rapper Pharrell Williams in 2003. In 2005, Nigo launched his own record label, Human Made Records. That same year, he released his debut album, The Men Who Stare At Goats. The album featured collaborations with artists such as Kanye West and Jay-Z. In 2007, he released his second album, The Return Of The Men Who Stare At Goats. The album featured guest appearances from artists such as Timbaland and Mos Def.

Nigo is one of the most influential figures in Japanese hip-hop culture. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music and is credited with helping to popularize streetwear fashion worldwide. His influence on hip-hop culture can still be seen today.
