Alcasid studied at the Don Bosco Technical College in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. He then attended the University of Santo Tomas in Manila but dropped out after three years. After dropping out, he pursued a career in music and entertainment. In 1987, he released his self-titled debut album which was certified triple platinum. He was then able to collaborate with other established Filipino singers such as Regine Velasquez, Vina Morales, Lani Misalucha, Jaya, Kyla, and Gary V. His collaboration with these artists gave him even more exposure in the industry.

Throughout his career, Ogie Alcasid has been recognized for his musical achievements.
