The Succes Story of Passion Pit
Passion Pit – The Band Behind the Passion
Passion Pit is an American indie rock band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. It consists of Michael Angelakos (lead vocals and keyboards), Ian Hultquist (keyboards and guitar), Xander Singh (bass and synth bass), Chris Hartz (drums) and Jeff Apruzzese (bass and synth bass). Passion Pit has released four studio albums since its formation in 2007: Manners, Gossamer, Kindred and Tremendous Sea of Love. The band has also collaborated with several other artists, including Big Data, Madeon, The Weeknd and Kanye West.
The Early Years
Passion Pit was formed in 2007 when lead singer Michael Angelakos began writing songs as a way to cope with his depression. He initially performed these songs alone as a solo artist but was soon joined by a full band. Together they developed a unique sound that blended electronic music with traditional instruments and Angelakos’s soulful vocal delivery. In 2008, the band released their debut EP Chunk of Change which featured the hit single “Sleepyhead”. The song quickly became a viral hit and established Passion Pit as one of the most promising new bands in the indie scene.
Manners & Gossamer
In 2009, Passion Pit released their debut album “Manners” which featured the popular singles “The Reeling” and “Little Secrets”. The album was well-received by critics and fans alike and earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album. The following year they released their sophomore effort “Gossamer” which featured hits such as “Take a Walk” and “Carried Away”. The album was even more successful than Manners and earned the band a second Grammy nomination.
Recent Activity
Since Gossamer, Passion Pit has released two more albums: Kindred in 2015 and Tremendous Sea of Love in 2017. Both albums featured popular singles such as “Where the Sky Hangs” and “Until We Can’t (Let’s Go)” respectively. The band has continued to tour extensively over the past few years in support of their latest releases. They have also collaborated with several other artists on various projects including Big Data, Madeon, The Weeknd and Kanye West.
