Patrick Watson is an award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter from Montreal. His music has been described as a combination of folk, pop, classical, and rock. His powerful vocals and musicality have earned him many awards including the Polaris Music Prize in 2007 and two Juno Awards in 2008. In addition, he has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album.

Early Life

Watson was born in 1973 in Montreal. He started playing piano at the age of five and eventually taught himself to play the guitar. He began writing music when he was twelve. At fifteen he joined a band called Gangster Politics and at sixteen he started his own band called Jet Black.

Career Highlights

Watson released his debut album Close to Paradise in 2006 with his band The Wooden Arms. The album earned him the Polaris Music Prize and two Juno Awards for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album. He also contributed to the soundtrack of the 2010 movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. His 2013 album Adventures in Your Own Backyard was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album.
