The Origins of Pop Evil
Pop Evil is an American hard rock band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band was formed in 2001 by vocalist Leigh Kakaty and guitarist Tony Greve, both of whom had left their previous bands to pursue a different musical direction. They soon recruited bassist Jamie Nummer and drummer Dave Kitts to complete the line-up.
Early Years
In 2004, the band released their debut album Lipstick on the Mirror after signing to Pazzo Music. The album spawned several singles including “Somebody Like You” and “100 in a 55”. Although the album didn't chart very high on the Billboard 200, it did manage to peak at #27 on the Top Heatseekers chart. Following this success, Pop Evil began touring extensively throughout the United States.
Rise to Fame
In 2009, Pop Evil released their second album War of Angels which featured the hit single “Monster You Made”. The single peaked at #5 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and helped launch the band into mainstream success. In 2011, the band released their third album Onyx which featured the hit singles “Trenches” and “Deal with the Devil”. Both singles peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
Recent Projects
In 2017, Pop Evil released their fourth album Up which featured the hit single “Waking Lions”. The single peaked at #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and helped launch the band into even greater heights of fame. In 2019, they released their fifth album Versatile which featured the hit single “A Crime to Remember”. The single peaked at #3 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
