Rainie Yang was born Yang Cheng Lin on June 4, 1982 in Taipei, Taiwan. As a young girl she studied classical piano, ballet and jazz dance. At age 16 she won a singing contest, which allowed her to sign with a record label and launch her professional singing career. She also pursued an acting career, appearing in films such as “The Foliage” (2003) and “Spider Lilies” (2007).

In 2001 Rainie became a member of the four-member girl group 4 in Love, which released two albums before disbanding in 2002. She then pursued an acting and solo singing career. Her debut solo album was “My Intuition” (2004) with the hit single “Ai Mei” (Love Me).
