Beato was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He began playing drums at a young age and went on to study classical and jazz percussion at the Berklee College of Music. After graduating he joined the band The Outpatience as their drummer before going on to work as a session musician and producer in Los Angeles. In 2001 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he opened MixMaster Music and began producing albums for various artists.
