She is best known for her melodious renditions of film songs in Malayalam cinema and Carnatic classical music performances. Born in 1985, she began her musical journey at the age of seven with Carnatic classical music lessons.

Sithara had her early training in music from her father Krishnakumar and later under renowned gurus like K. Omanakkutty Amma, K.V. Narayanaswamy, and K.G. Jayan. She made her debut as a playback singer in the year 2000 with the song 'Ponveene' in the movie 'Kaiyethum Doorathu' which was composed by Vidyasagar. Since then she has gone on to lend her voice to many superhit songs in various languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. She has also sung for various commercials and albums.
