Sơn Tùng M-TP is a Vietnamese pop singer-songwriter, fashion icon, and actor who has appeared in one of the Vietnams' biggest grossing films, received several Asian music awards, and published his autobiography. Early life Real name-Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, the artist, was born in the province of Thai Binh. Raised in a musical home, his parents were musicians and allowed their son to enroll in an arts center at eight. As much as they were musicians themselves, they were eager for their son to pursue a stable and secure career, not in entertainment. Nguyen was resolute that he wanted a career in the arts and formed a band with some school friends, called "Overband". The group worked on various songs together and uploaded them to a music website called "LadyKillah" subsequently, Hoàng Kê spotted the artist. He received an invitation to join his band "Young Pilots". Music influences Son Tung was inspired by Quang Vinh, Chris Brown, Hip-Hop, and electronic music. Career By 2011, after he decided to go solo, after releasing a song titled "Cơn mưa ngang qua", he uploaded it to a music website, and within a few months, the track received over a million listeners. The following year he gained a contract with Văn Production, and from there, he took on the stage name Sơn Tùng M-TP. In 2014 he was offered the role of Dinh Phong in Dandelion. The film went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in Vietnam. 2017 was a successful year for Son Tung. He released his compilation album and autobiography. The same year he toured nationwide, his concerts were called "Sky Tour", which was used for his follow-up album. Extracts of the tour were recorded for a documentary Sơn Tùng M-TP: Sky Tour Movie, which became the first music documentary in Vietnam. Son Tung, the talented all-around entertainer, is also recognized for his trendsetting style.
