Who is Tena Khimphun?

Tena Khimphun is a Cambodian-American singer-songwriter from Long Beach, California. She was born in 1993 and has been making music since her early teens. Her music combines traditional Cambodian sounds with modern pop and R&B to create an eclectic blend of styles. She has released a number of singles and one EP so far.

Early Life & Career

As a child, Tena was surrounded by traditional Cambodian music and culture. Her parents both fled the country during the brutal Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. Growing up in Long Beach, she was exposed to rap and hip hop from an early age. When she was 15, she began experimenting with mixing traditional Cambodian instruments with more contemporary sounds.

Music Style & Discography

Tena's musical style reflects her heritage while still embracing the sounds of today. Her songs combine elements of hip hop, rap, R&B, and pop to create an innovative and unique sound. Her debut EP “Square One” was released in 2019 and features seven original tracks. In 2020, she released the single “Just Me” which has become her most successful song to date.

Collaborations & Awards

Tena has collaborated with several other artists on her songs including “Just Me” which features rapper Phay. She was also featured on the song “Cambodia Town” by the group Brown Cove which was released in 2020. She was nominated for the 2020 Music Choice Award for Best New Artist.
