Austin State University where he majored in business. During this time, he continued to pursue his music career, performing at local venues and bars around the area.

In 1993, Tracy Byrd signed a record deal with MCA Nashville and released his self-titled debut album. The album spawned four singles that all charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. His second album, No Ordinary Man was released in 1994 and was certified gold by the RIAA. The album’s lead single, “Holdin’ Heaven” charted at number 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Tracy Byrd’s third album, Love Lessons was released in 1995 and featured the hit single “The Keeper of the Stars” which peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Since then, Tracy Byrd has released five more studio albums and has achieved moderate success with each release.
