Who is Weyes Blood?

Weyes Blood, born Natalie Mering, is an American singer-songwriter from Philadelphia. She began her career in the early 2010s, releasing her debut album The Outside Room in 2011. Since then, she has released two more albums, Front Row Seat to Earth (2016) and Titanic Rising (2019), both of which have earned critical acclaim for their dreamy, melodic soundscapes.

Early life and Career

Mering started playing piano at age 4, and as a young adult she studied music at a community college in Ohio. At the same time, she started writing and recording music with a group of musicians called Jackie-O Motherfucker. In 2011, she released her first solo album The Outside Room under the name Weyes Blood. The album showcased her unique blend of dreamy folk and ethereal pop. Her second album Front Row Seat to Earth (2016) featured the single “Do You Need My Love” which earned her a cult following. The album was followed by the critically acclaimed Titanic Rising (2019).

Weyes Blood has collaborated with several notable artists including Father John Misty, Ariel Pink, and Andy Shauf. Her work has also been featured in television shows like Girls and Transparent.
