McDowell was born in Warren, Ohio in 1972. He started playing the piano at the age of five. After high school, he attended Cincinnati Bible College where he earned a degree in Church Music. He then went on to become the worship leader at Deeper Life Bible Church in Cincinnati. In 2009, he released his debut album ""As We Worship Live"" which was a great success. He followed this up with ""Withholding Nothing"" in 2011 and ""Arise"" in 2014. His most recent album is ""The Cry: A Live Worship Experience"" released in 2018.
