Wrabel was born in 1987 as Stephen Wrabel. He grew up in Chicago and attended Columbia College to study music business. He moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to pursue a career in music.

Wrabel began his career by releasing his first EP in 2012 titled “The Village”. The EP featured the song “Sideways” which was used in an advertisement for Volvo. In 2014, he signed with Epic Records. That same year he released his second EP titled “Dance Like You’re Dead”. In 2015, he wrote the song “11 Blocks” which was featured on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was also featured on the soundtrack for the movie “Me Before You”.
