Who is YA LEVIS?
YA LEVIS is a multi-talented musician and producer from Haiti whose passion for music has taken him to the top of the Afro-Caribbean music scene. His sound combines modern elements with traditional Caribbean vibes for a unique take on contemporary music.Born Yaovi Levis in 1980 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he was exposed to music at an early age. His parents were both musicians and he grew up playing numerous instruments including trombone, guitar, piano, and drums. He was classically trained in music theory and arrangement and eventually went on to pursue a career as a professional artist.
YA LEVIS' Musical Career
YA LEVIS started his musical career in the late 1990s as a session musician in the Port-au-Prince music scene. He quickly rose to prominence with his unique style, blending traditional Caribbean rhythms with modern sounds. In 2002 he released his debut album “iKOne” which was met with critical acclaim and established him as one of the leading voices in the Afro-Caribbean music scene.Since then, he has released several more albums that have further cemented his status as a major artist in his genre. He has collaborated with numerous other artists such as Tali Goya and El Micha, adding even more depth and variety to his sound. His live shows are always packed and highly energetic, bringing people together from all walks of life.
