Young Dro Biography

American rapper, songwriter, and producer D'Juan Montrel Hart, better known by his stage name Young Dro, was born on January 15th, 1979 in Bankhead, Atlanta. He started his music career in 2001 with his first single “Yes Sir” from his debut album “I Got That Dro”. Since then, he has released five studio albums and numerous mixtapes.

Early Career

Young Dro started off as a member of T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records in 2003 and eventually signed a solo contract with Atlantic Records in 2006. His first hit single “Shoulder Lean” featuring T.I. was released in 2006 and peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The success of the single led him to release his debut album “Best Thang Smokin” in August of 2006. The album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold by the RIAA.

Rise to Fame

In 2008, Young Dro released his second album “High Times” featuring the singles “FDB” and “Freeze Me”. The album debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart and was later certified gold by the RIAA. In 2010, he released his third album “P.O.L.O (Players Only Live Once)” which featured guest appearances from Yung LA and Yung Joc and peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Recent Projects

In 2013, Young Dro released his fourth studio album “High Times: The Hangover” which featured guest appearances from 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne and peaked at number 8 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. He released his fifth studio album “Da Reality Show” in 2015 which reached number 11 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. In 2018, he released a mixtape titled “Da Real Atlanta 2” which featured guest appearances from T.I., YFN Lucci, and Derez Deshon.

Legacy

Young Dro is one of the most successful hip hop artists in Atlanta and continues to be an influence in the industry today. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in hip hop such as T.I., Yung LA, Yung Joc, and Lil Wayne. His music is known for its catchy hooks and clever wordplay.
