Born in the heart of Tunis, Hamdi Toukabri, AKA Hamdi RydEr, has quickly established himself as one of the most important and influential artists in the local underground scene. Initially inspired by urban music, his first productions were Hip Hop and beat projects. After a number of successful collaborations, his passion for grooves led him to explore other genres. Ultimately arriving at House, he’s been steady releasing tracks since 2010, including remix work for artists like Joss Moog and Hector Moralez, among others. With regular support from heavyweight icons like DJ Sneak, Phil Weeks, and Mark Farina, Hamdi RydEr was quick to become an underground favorite. So much so that in 2017, his track “Girl You Need To” was featured on ‘Street Player’, a Youtube channel that creates videos to showcase the aesthetic of dance music culture by pairing fresh underground heat with urban dancing feet. His video was also covered by Mixmag. Hamdi’s passion for all things underground would eventually drive him to create a platform for other like-minded artists to express themselves. The result: Downtown Vibes (DV) - a local collective established by himself and a group of close friends. Its mission: organize underground events, provide a stage for Tunisian talent, and maintain a well-structured community for arts and urban culture.
