Everything is better than before

I’d quit, I’d finished…or at least I thought I had. I’d gone from Paris to Australia taking only a ukulele with me. Left all my guitars, keyboards and music gear in storage. No equipment, no inspiration. But new places have a habit of pulling new things out of me. Within days of arriving in Melbourne I’d picked the ukulele up and this little tune came to me. Just 6 notes that went round and round. Then words started to come; something about Sherlock Holmes, wolves and Bogart. Strange. Could I be someone different on the other side of the world? Would ‘Everything be Better than Before?’ I bet that riff would sound good on harmonica… ‘Everything is Better than Before’ has clocked up half a million plays on Spotify alone.
