Biography

French composer/singer/DJ/producer, now based in Belgium. 1) Past history: The pop/new-wave band Little Nemo he co-founded in 1985, as writer/ composer/keyboards/lead singer, received significant public and media recognition until the bandʼs split in 1992. 4 albums, 6 EPs + singles on the #1 indie label New Rose, all together reaching +/- 30K copies sold. Note: Olive did not take part to the recent bandʼs live reunion since 2007, nor to the 2013 CD, by the 4 other members. 2) As Dr Olive: Started producing solo and DJ-ing in 1995. 1997 : signed to Belgian worldwide famous label R&S rec. 2 x 12" of his own tracks, + remixes for artists as Tommy Gee or Locust. 1998 : Remixes for belgian acts Hooverphonic and D.A.A.U. (Sony Belgium). 1999 : Creates his own label les Disques Bazoline, releases 2 LPs (99 and 2001) and 5 x 12", + other artists' releases, like Q-Burns Abstract Message (remixes compilation of Q- Burns' original album Invisible Airlines). 2004-05 : Releases 12" on labels like Missive Music (Paris) and Dirty Dancing (Brussels). Official remix of Garnier's "Controlling the House" is selected by Laurent and released digitally on The Cloud Making Machine website. 2005 : Bazoline is closed. Dr Olive Stops producing/touring and disappears for 8 years. He's been DJ-ing and giving live gigs (with drummer P. Scorier) in about 10 countries, including the USA & Russia. (Ghent's Ten Days Of Techno 1997, Miami Winter Conf. & Austin SXSW in 2000, Berlin Love Parade 2001, Nouveau Casino & Batofar Paris, Arezzo Wave Festival...). 2005-2012: Dr Olive disappeared from all radars. May 2013 : Under a side project named TimeWise (with producer Paul Fiction) he released a cover of Joy Division's "Heart & Soul" which received Peter Hook's enthusiastic feedback. Complete back catalog was re-issued on all major streaming and download platforms. As many musicians are now collaborating (vocalists, bass & guitar players, drummers... mostly through long distances), the act's name changed to Dr. Olive & the Hoperators. 2020 : Releases 2 Eps on french label Brique Rouge, “Future EP” (sept. 25) and “Return Of The Lost Jukebox EP” (nov.). 2022 : A new album, almost non-electronic, but cinematic, electric, organic, psychedelic ; composed and produced between 2014 and 2019, will be released.
