Anhangá

Anhangá - Tupi: añánga, meaning spirit - is the protector of animals, especially females and young ones, and tends to appear as a white deer with red eyes. According to Brazilian mythology, when animals are able to escape hunters or their prey, the Tupi would say that Anhangá was looking over them. This track is part of a release with both Tropical Twist Records and the Voodoohop Collective called Mamazonia: Odes to the Forest, an initiative to raise awareness and to help indigenous peoples affected by the Amazon rainforest burning in Brazil.
