Batida de Coco

Batida is a Brazilian cocktail made with the national alcoholic drink, cachaça. In Portuguese, batida means shaken, similar to a milkshake. The word is also used to refer to things that collide. This drink is made with cachaça, fruit juice (or coconut milk) and sugar, and is mixed or shaken with ice. While on a trip in 2019, before the lockdown started as a result of the pandemic in Brazil, I was on a deserted beach on the north coast of São Paulo called Caçandoca, where there was only one place to eat and drink. There I found the best Batida de Coco I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. This has been my favorite drink ever since and whenever I go to the beach, I have the ritual of getting drunk with this drink that is as tasty as it is alcoholic. Three of these are enough to get you really drunk. This track was created with this delicious Brazilian drink in mind, which is sweet and tropical, just like my country.
