Status: Critically Endangered Population: 660 - 800 Found: Argentina, Chile The majestic Hooded Grebe inhabits the lakes and arid steppes of Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia. Its song is an other-worldly, rhythmic series of rising notes. The species has suffered, and continues to suffer from, an extremely rapid decline in its population - as much as by 40% since the 1990s. It is now known to breed at only a few locations in south-western Argentina. Shika Shika is currently preparing the third Volume of the ‘Birdsong’ series which will focus on endangered birds in Western Africa. All of the money raised from the sale of these NFTs will go towards funding the creation of the album, enabling us to donate 100% of sales to bird conservation in the region.
